need counseling?

Jesus promises us that life will difficult. He says in John 16:33, “In this world you will have tribulation.”So, it’s not a matter of if hard times will come, but when. That is the bad news. The good news is He also tells us that He is always with us and is available to help us. He is a “very present help in trouble” according to Psalm 46:1 and a “Wonderful Counselor” according to Isaiah 9:6.

At Summit Lake Community Church we are fully committed to the counsel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Both pastors are trained, certified, and experienced biblical counselors.

Pastor Jeff Pierce is a certified counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (www.biblicalcounseling.comand the Association of Biblical Counselors (www.christiancounseling.com). He is currently completing a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Counseling degree at Westminster Theological Seminary. He has over 10 years of experience, specializing in marriage and family counseling. He also handles personal cases addressing matters such as addiction, anger, anxiety, and depression.

Pastor Don Brewer III is a chaplain with the Army National Guard and has over 10 years of counseling experience helping both military and non-military individuals with problems ranging from PTSD to marriage conflict.

In addition to pastoral counseling, peer counseling is also readily available. In several places, the NT describes the local church as a community of counselors (Rom 15:14; Col 3:16; 2 Thess 3:10-15), and God has graciously created such an environment at SLCC. It is a loving and safe environment where friends are committed to sympathizing with one another’s challenges and helping one another walk in the freedom of Christ.
